On June 16th the Medford Valley was privileged to the rare view of two WWII bombers that flew into Medford International Airport for a three day display on Jet Center MFR's ramp. The Collings Foundation coordinated with us to bring a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Consolidated B-24 Liberator to Medford for the public to enjoy. The weather was perfect as several of Jet Center's clients were thrilled with a ride in the bombers when they repositioned the aircraft from Arcata California. View all the great photos at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=192754&id=7. http://jetcentermfr.com As of March 2010, the FAA no longer mails paper copies of Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Special Airworthiness Information Bulletins (SAIBs) to aircraft owners and maintenance providers. Instead, the FAA is providing this information through a new e-mail service known as Gov-Delivery. While the FAA will continue to mail paper copies of Emergency ADs for the foreseeable future, aircraft owners and other interested persons will need to sign up to receive e-mail notifications for all other ADs through this free subscription service. You may register as many different makes and models of aircraft, engines and propellers as you like. Remember this service is free of charge and relatively simple. Just follow the on-line instructions at http://rgl.faa.gov (note: there is no "www") Next, click on the link "subscribe for email delivery of Ads and SAIBs" then select your specific aircraft, engine and propeller make and model information. If you still want paper copies, the FAA will continue to provide its AD Biweekly, which is a paid subscription of all ADs issued in the Federal Register over the previous 2-week period. The AD Biweekly is printed and mailed by the Government Printing Office (GPO) and does not include SAIBs. Contact the GPO directly at (202) 512-1806 for cost and addition information. http://jetcentermfr.com The Federal Communication Commission shocked the aviation community this week when it announced that it will prohibit the sale or use of 121.5 MHz emergency locator transmitters, effective in August. To improve situational awareness of the Mercy Flight pilots flying this C90 King Air in the demanding weather of the Pacific Northwest. This improvement called for synthetic vision, traffic information, weather data and new WAAS radios. The Garmin G600 was an ideal choice to add synthetic vision and bring this 1978 C90 into the world of multifunction displays. Rounding out the upgrade was a GNS 530W, GNS 430W, Garmin GDL 69 weather receiver and an L-3 Skywatch HP traffic advisory system. http://jetcentermfr.com/home/ Again, Jet Center Medford participated in the Northwest Aviation Conference and Trade Show held on February 20-21 in Puyallup, Washington. 12,000 aviation enthusiasts gathered to check out what is new in the aviation industry! The attendance appeared to be up this year and attendees seemed to be upbeat about the future of aviation in general. It was our pleasure to support such a great event, and a surprise to see so many Oregonians had traveled north on a weekend with such terrific weather. This year Jet Center Medford held a drawing for a Garmin 96C color GPS and the winner is Laure Hall. Laure is a pilot for Amity Oregon. Congratulations to her. Hope to see you there next year. http://jetcentermfr.com/home/ Col Richard McReynolds from ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve), a Department of Defense organization, recently honored Jet Center Medford with a special plaque to which we are very proud. The ESGR recognizes outstanding American employers that support and value the military service of their employees. Those of us at Jet Center Medford are humbled by this gratitude and think that maybe ESG has it backwards. It is all of us civilians that should be honoring those brave men and women in service that make such extreme sacrifices for all of us. We were reminded of those sacrifices as Jet Center Medford was honored to assist the departure of the Southern Oregon Guard as they left for deployment from the Medford airport this past summer. Dozens gathered to see and hear a panel of experts educate them on many aspects of aviation finances. These seven experts came from around the west coast to discuss, Aircraft Financing, 1031 Exchanges, Tax Strategies, Buying and Selling Aircraft and much more. With two aviation attorneys and one aviation CPA on hand, pilots and business people asked some difficult questions and got some terrific answers. With the help of the BLM, we were able to give away 2,500 Western Red Cedar trees to willing attendees. Folks were enthusiastically surprised at being offered a tree or two.
