John Rachor Running for County Commissioner
Who is John Rachor?
John and his orange and yellow Robinson R44 helicopter with the Burger King logo have been well
known to people around the Medford Airport. Many of the people we talked to had great things
to say about John and how he has contributed to our community.
As John's former neighbor, Danny George, (president Jet Center Medford), remembers him as an enthusiastic neighbor who frequently stepped up to help a neighbor in need. The numerous times John and his backhoe were helping out at a neighbor's property are a testimony to John's character.
Lt. Pat Rowland of the Jackson County Search and Rescue knows John as a thankless volunteer who flies 200 hours a year searching and rescuing people around our area. As a pilot of 30 years, you might remember John as the pilot that located the Kim family three years ago in a remote part of Josephine County. Recently, John had his shortest rescue to date. Seven minutes total airtime. A local woman went out for an afternoon hike in our valley's foothills. As nightfall approached she became directionally challenged and made a 911 call for help. John quickly traversed to the foothills, then spent a total of two minutes to locate her and all ended well.
John is proud to be a fourth generation southern Oregonian and has owned and operated several successful Burger Kings franchises since 1977. John says his friends convinced him to run for County Commissioner. When asked how he thinks he could best contribute as county commissioner, he points out that "my business is about efficiency" and hopes to make our county administration "more user friendly".
We wish John great success as he runs for County Commissioner.
